The understanding of personal data privacy in Brazil has changed since Law 13.709/2018, the LGPD. With the entry into effect of the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data, December 31, 2020, companies and institutions need to be prepared for the new legislation. Personal data (name, documents, photos, consumption habits, etc.) now have specific protection, with concrete definitions of obligations and rights of owners and companies. The LGPD covers any and all operations that involve the archiving, processing, storage, capture, use, reproduction and transfer of personal data. Brazilian companies and those operating in Brazil must comply with the Law, in addition to guaranteeing the owners the right to provide information, correction, deletion and portability of their data.
It is necessary to build a process of compliance with the requirements of the new law, the time for compliance varies from company to company.
All company leaders need to be aware of this reality, since the engagement of presidents, directors and partners is vital for the organization to comply with the provisions of the LGPD.
